Hugh Jackman Wants Wolverine to Play with 'The Avengers' Too!

In today's installment of Hugh Jackman keepin' it real, the "Wolverine" star thinks it's high time the current big three among superhero studios — that'd be Warner Bros., Sony Pictures and 20th Century Fox — pass around some kinda olive branch and make nice so that he can play with Iron Man and Spider-Man and all the other cool kids, too!

Yup, in a new sit-down with Collider to promote his latest turn as the adamantium-filled fighter, hitting theaters on July 26, Jackman laments all the mine-mine-mine stuff going down between the three comic-to-movie heavyweight champs of the industry right now ... especially since it means he can't flex his "X-Men" claws alongside the likes of "Iron Man" and "The Amazing Spider-Man."

"Mate, I ask the same question," Jackman said in response to the journo asking what it'll take to get Wolverine into the Marvel Universe. "I literally asked the same question the other day to Tom from Marvel who works with all the other studios ... he works with Sony and Fox, that's his job to liaise. I said, 'Man, can this happen?' and he goes, 'Look, it's not gonna be easy because you're working with different studios and they're their properties.' But I believe, maybe I'm optimistic. I understand at Marvel, they've got 'The Avengers,' they've got big things going on, but at some point I just find it almost impossible that there's not a way to bring Iron Man and all the 'Avengers' characters, the 'X-Men' characters, Spider-Man, and somehow get them in together."

Could you even imagine? It'd be like six hours long ... but totally worth it.

And, look, Jackman's a practical guy; he understands there's a lotta moolah involved in these kinda things, and he's got an idea for how to deal with that too.

"I'm like, okay, you've got three studios, just split it three ways in terms of cost, and happy days it's all coming together!" he said. Now, there's a man of our pragmatic mind. Approved.

Obviously it goes without saying at this point, but he added for posterity's sake that he is "totally up for" such a comic-crossover adventure "that would be really exciting for fans across the board." Way to dream big, Hugh Jackman.
