How to Support 'Dark Knight Rises' Shooting Town in Colorado

On July 20, we all awoke to horrifying news. A devastating mass shooting took place at a midnight screening of "The Dark Knight Rises" in Aurora, Colo., leaving 12 dead and dozens of other victims wounded. A suspect has been identified in the heinous crime, but the victims, families and the Aurora community at large are still far from healing.

For those who wish to give assistance to those affected by this tragic incident, efforts are currently being collectivized for the Mile High Chapter of the American Red Cross, which services the town of Aurora in addition to many other counties in Colorado state. Unfortunately, that chapter has had its hands full with disaster relief of late, following the Colorado wildfires which began near the end of June and lasted for several days.

For those in the area or whose friends or family are, the Denver Red Cross is encouraging citizens to register or utilize its "Safe and Well" social media platform to alert friends and family of their condition or to inquire about the condition of loved ones. Additionally, the Aurora Police Department has opened up a tip line for information on victims or the incident itself at 303-739-1862.

The Community First Foundation has set up an Aurora Victim Relief Fund, to aid surviving victims and families of the 12 people killed in the shooting. Click here for details.

For those who live in the L.A. area, Pacific Theatres and ArcLight Cinemas have placed donation boxes at 11 of their theaters in L.A. The proceeds will go to the victims of the shooting and their families.
