Hayden Panettiere of "Heroes" fame and Nikki Reed of the "Twilight" franchise are heading back to school. The Hollywood golden girls have signed on to star in the teen thriller "Downers Grove."
"American Psycho" writer Brett Easton Ellis penned the screenplay, which is based on the novel by Michael Hornberg. "Prom Night"'s Nelson McCormick is set to take the reigns in the director's chair.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the story is set in a cursed high school in the Chicago suburb of Downers Grove where, before the end of every school year, one senior dies a bizarre death. Panettiere's character, a quirky senior named Chrissy Swanson, fears she will be the next victim.
"Downers Grove" is slated to begin shooting in Louisiana next spring.
In the meantime, Panettiere recently wrapped on "Scream 4" and Reed is currently shooting the two-part finale to "The Twilight Saga."
It remains to be seen what happens a former superhero and a former vampire bring their acting powers to a teen horror flick, but we're pretty sure it's going to be thrilling.
