Who Will Be Harry Osborn in 'Spider-Man 2'?

UPDATE: Sam Claflin ("Snow White and the Huntsman"), Eddie Redmayne ("Les Miserables"), Douglas Booth ("Noah") and Boyd Holbrook ("Hatfields & McCoys") are actually the ones screentesting for the role of Harry Osborn in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," according to Heat Vision.

So where all that talk of Dane DeHaan, Brady Corbet and Alden Ehrenreich came from is anyone's guess. Or maybe they tested first and they've all since been dropped from the running. We may never know.

Anyway, we just hope that J. Jonah Jameson's in this one.

Some superheroes have really obvious arch enemies — Superman has Lex Luthor, Batman has The Joker, Captain America has The Red Skull — but Spider-Man has something a bit different: An arch frenemy.

And since that's a much more subtle relationship, it's fair to say that finding the right person to play Harry Osborn may be the key decision that could make or break "The Amazing Spider-Man 2."

Well, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony has narrowed things down, with three finalists battling it out for the key role of Peter Parker's best friend and worst enemy. So which one will earn the right to become the next James Franco?

Franco, of course, memorably played Harry Osborn in Sam Raimi's "Spider-Man" trilogy, bringing nuance to the role of the conflicted kid whose best friend is Spider-Man, but whose dad also happens to be the psychotic villain The Green Goblin. And just look what it did for Franco's career: A decade later, he's earning Oscar nominations, hosting award shows, starring in soap operas, writing books, holding art shows and sawing off his own arm.

So it's safe to say that landing this part could be a major career changer for whichever up-and-comer is picked. And the three candidates all have their own impressive resumes already: frontrunner Dane DeHaan headlined the surprise hit "Chronicle" earlier this year, while Brady Corbet impressed in the indie drama "Melancholia" and Alden Ehrenreich is reportedly excellent in the upcoming "Beautiful Creatures."

With great power comes great responsibility — and Sony right now has the power to decide the future of "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" with this pick. You can let us know what you think in our poll below. Here's hoping Sony gets it right.
