Ben Affleck's next (and potentially most complicated yet) on-screen love interest has arrived by way of Rosamund Pike, the actress who's landed the covetous lead in the adaptation of Gillian Flynn's "Gone Girl," and she's brought a few friends along for the suspenseful movie ride as well.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Affleck and Pike are being joined on the cast of the whodunnit/crazy marital drama by Neil Patrick Harris and Tyler Perry.

For those who aren't among the gajillions who've read the book, the story centers on a woman who disappears on her fifth wedding anniversary, leaving her husband — who'd uprooted her from NYC lifestyle after being let go from his job and decided to, um, open a bar in the mid-west with his sis — as a prime suspect in the matter.

Only, the book is written in back-and-forth first person diary mode, and as the story progresses it becomes clear that neither man nor wife is 100 percent truthful in telling it. We won't completely ruin it for you, but suffice it to say, the climax brings some surprising developments to light.

So, we have a hunch Doogie Howser Neil Patrick Harris' part might the dude who gets [spoiler] [spoiler] [spoiler]-ed near the end of the book. (Sorry, it's a mystery.) Meanwhile, given his recent copster efforts with "Alex Cross," Tyler Perry could be a shoo-in as one of the central investigators pointing fingers at the darling hubs, perhaps?

As for the lady du jour Miss Pike, who recently seen in "Jack Reacher" and "The World's End," reportedly had some pretty stiff competition for the part, including Charlize Theron, Natalie Portman, Emily Blunt, Abbie Cornish and Olivia Wilde (of course, some of those were knocked out of contention by their own schedule stuffs, but still).

Filming is expected to begin on "Gone Girl" in September.
