George Clooney and Darren Aronofsky Will Explore 'Human Nature'

The star of "Up in the Air" and the director of "Black Swan" have plans for the future.

It's been a couple of months since Darren Aronofsky jumped ship and put Marvel Films' "The Wolverine" on hiatus, but it looks like he's now found something to fill the void in his schedule: a sci-fi project called "Human Nature," according to Vulture.

George Clooney is attached to star in the film, which tells the story of a cryogenically frozen man who wakes up to a world where humans are now pets to a new dominant species.

The spec script by Jeff Welch has kind of been cryogenically frozen itself, floating around in Hollywood limbo for over 15 years, and now Aronofsky and producer Akiva Goldsman are looking to bring it to life.

Aronofsky definitely knows his way around a sci-fi movie, having wowed us with his debut film, the ultra-low-budget "Pi," and with his third film, the ultra-high-budget "The Fountain." Clooney's been impressive in the genre before as well, having brought a natural charm and melancholy to Steven Soderbergh's "Solaris" remake (that was in 2002, back when it was actually kind of okay to call them "remakes").

This "Human Nature," of course, should not be confused with "Human Nature," the 2001 film directed by Michel Gondry and written by Charlie Kaufman, starring Tim Robbins, Rhys Ifans and Patricia Arquette. This "Human Nature" is not a remake/reboot/re-imagining of that movie but something completely different entirely (as far as we can tell).

The film is currently being budgeted, though if all goes according to plan, expect "Human Nature" to come together in the very near-future.
