Eva Green as a goddess? Talk about typecasting!

The former Bond Girl and all-around stunning beauty is in talks to play the heavenly female lead of "300: Battle of Artemisia," according to Heat Vision.

Green would be playing the role of Artemisia herself, the ruthless, gold-covered goddess who persuades king-turned-god Xerxes to amass his army and helps lead the charge against the Greek forces. The giant battle at the center of the film is said to be happening simultaneously with the events of the original "300."

The "300" sequel is still looking for its mortal male lead as "Warrior" star Joel Edgerton recently turned down the role of Themosticles, the general of the Greek army. Rodrigo Santoro, who played Raul Castro in Steven Soderbergh's "Che," has been cast as Xerxes.

Eva Green is probably best known for her role as Vesper Lynd, one of 007's hottest-ever love interests, in "Casino Royale." She'll next be seen in "Perfect Sense," opening Feb. 10, 2012, and in Tim Burton's "Dark Shadows," opening May 11.

"300: Battle of Artemisia" will begin production early next year under the direction of Noam Murro ("Smart People") with a look toward a release date sometime in 2013 -- our guess would be March, as that worked out pretty well for "300" back in 2007.
