Hermione who? Emma Watson is leaving that lovable witch behind for some bad girl behavior in the upcoming movie "The Bling Ring."
The film, which will be written, produced and directed by Sofia Coppola, is based on the true story of a group of young burglars who stole a reported $3 million from celebrities in 2008 and 2009, earning them the nicknames "The Burglar Bunch" and "The Bling Ring."
The band of seven, which included E! reality star Alexis Neiers, burglarized the homes of Lindsay Lohan, Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green, Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr, Rachel Bilson, Audrina Patridge and Paris Hilton, who was reportedly robbed a total of five times by the group.
The story has already garnered massive media attention, including a 2011 made-for-TV movie, also entitled "The Bling Ring," a "Law & Order: Los Angeles" episode and a profile of the group in Vanity Fair by author Nancy Jo Sales.
Coppola's brother, Roman, will reunite with his "Somewhere" co-producer Youree Henley to produce the film.
While a release date has not yet been announced, Variety reports that Coppola is eager to start production, announcing, "I'm excited about the young cast we're assembling and I'm looking forward to shooting on location here in Los Angeles."
Watson, who most recently appeared in Oscar-nominated "My Week With Marilyn," can be seen next in the film adaptation of Stephen Chbosky's "The Perks of Being a Wallflower," to be released later this year.
