Elizabeth Olsen has stepped out from the tiny, fur and sunglasses-clad shadows of her diminutive older sisters, Mary-Kate and Ashley, with her role in "Martha Marcy May Marlene," and it seems the young actress has no intentions of stopping her ascent to super-stardom anytime soon.

Entertainment Weekly reports that Olsen will be teaming up with one of Hollywood's biggest stars in the upcoming film adaptation of Emile Zola's 1876 play "Therese Raquin."

Olsen will star as the title character opposite Glenn Close, as Raquin's aunt who pushes her young niece into a marriage to her first cousin, despite the girl's wishes. Shortly after her marriage, Therese begins an affair with her husband's friend, Laurent, which threatens to destroy the lives of everyone involved.

The thriller, set in Paris in the mid-19th century, is written and directed by Charlie Stratton. William Horberg and Mickey Liddell will serve as producers on the film.

Close, who currently stars on the television drama "Damages," recently completed shooting "Albert Nobbs" opposite Mia Wasikowska and Jonathan Rhys Meyers.

"Therese Raquin" hits theaters in 2012.
