Samuel L. Jackson Spills: Elizabeth Olsen is the 'Avengers 2' Scarlet Witch

After weeks of speculation, all it took was a little Samuel L. Jackson speak — ya know, in between all the rampant swears — to confirm that Little Olsen is indeed red-suiting up to be the Scarlet Witch in Marvel's "The Avengers: Age of Ultron."

Yep, she of major indie breakout cred thanks to "Martha Marcy May Marlene" and "Silent House," among others, has been making a turn toward paying that pricey NYC rent more mainstream projects like the remakes for "Oldboy" and "Godzilla" lately, and now Elizabeth Olsen's set to go all superhero on us for the second Marvel-ous assembly.

Sam Jackson, who was chatting up Nick Fury's coming cameo on Marvel's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," told the Wall Street Journal of "Avengers 2," "I don’t think we begin shooting before March of next year ... I know we’re shooting in London, that James Spader is Ultron and going to be the bad guy, and that we added Ms. Olsen, but I don't know what she’s doing, if she's on the inside or the outside. I haven't seen a script."

Casual.

Olsen's been rumored for the part of Scarlet Witch in "Age of Ultron" since August, with reports suggesting that she received an offer for the part after frontrunner Saoirse Ronan declined. When asked about it herself in September, however, she played it coy. "I've been rumored about lots of things. I can't, I don't know," she stumbled. "I grew up loving comic books and sci-fi ... I think those movies are great. I would love to do something like that."

Wanda Maximoff a.k.a. the Scarlet Witch is one of the twin children to the "X-Men" franchise's Magneto character. The other is Pietro Maximoff a.k.a. Quicksilver, which Evan Peters appears as in "X-Men: Days of Future Past" but will not reprise for "Avengers 2." Aaron Taylor-Johnson is currently rumored for that part, so is he twinsies enough with non-twin Olsen? Remember, these are paternal twins (and not the paternal-but-might-as-well-be-identical type we're used to with these crazy Olsens).

We'll see!

Meanwhile, as we're tip-toeing around the subject of those other Olsen girls, we gotta wonder if they are jeally of their little sis yet or what? 'Cause, um, this is a much better get than the witch role Mary-Kate had in that "Beastly" nonsense, right?

Oh and by the way, if you just can't imagine it yet the handy dandy internet's already got you covered right here with this DeviantArt photoshoppery of Olsen as the character.

Whaddya think?

As Jackson mentioned, "The Avengers: Age of Ultron" begins filming early next year and is scheduled to hit theaters on May 1, 2015.
