It's starting to look like a straight shot for the adaptation of "Divergent."
Word on the street is that Evan Daugherty, one of Hollywood's hottest scribes, has been tapped to pen the screenplay based on Veronica Roth's bestselling young adult novel.
Daugherty truly seems to be a golden boy, having written "Snow White and the Huntsman" (which stars Kristen Stewart and Chris Hemsworth), as well as "Shrapnel" (directed by the iconic John McTiernan) for the silver screen.
In other words, this dystopian thriller seems right up his alley.
The story is set in a future society in which the population is divided into five factions, each embodying a different virtue: honesty, bravery, selflessness, peacefulness and intelligence. At 16 years old, citizens undergo an aptitude test to select the faction they will join.
That's all well and good, unless you're Beatrice Prior — because our girl Beatrice leaves her family for a rival faction, a decision that thrusts her into both a brutal world and a budding romance, The Hollywood Reporter recounts.
So who should play this flaxen-haired heroine?
Hollywood Crush has a few bright ideas, namely, "Scream 4" thesp Emma Roberts, Elle Fanning of "Super 8" fame and new TV darling Skyler Samuels, the leading lady of "The Nine Lives of Chloe King."
Each of these ladies would no doubt bring her own special twist to young Beatrice, and we hope one of them lands the part. Because we're pretty sure that Daughtery's script will be able to take any of these rising starlets to new heights.
