Possibly the most talented and off-the-charts nuclear-level hot of Hollywood's stable of MILFs is Diane Lane, who scorched up the screen a decade ago in "Unfaithful" but must now, like most actresses in their mid-40's, resign herself to the inevitability of playing moms.
Always one to do things on her own terms, Lane probably said to herself, "if I'm gonna only get mom roles now, I might as well be the greatest mom EVER."
Hence, she will play Martha "Ma" Kent, the legendary adoptive Earth mother of Superman/Clark Kent (Henry Cavill) in Zack Snyder's "The Man of Steel."
According to the Warner Bros. press release, Snyder stated, "This was a very important piece of casting for me because Martha Kent is the woman whose values helped shape the man we know as Superman. We are thrilled to have Diane in the role because she can convey the wisdom and the wonder of a woman whose son has powers beyond her imagination."
Now speculation turns to who will play opposite Lane as Smallville farmer Jonathan "Pa" Kent, and if last week's rumor mill has anything to say about it, it could be none other than Whitney Houston's faithful bodyguard, Kevin Costner. Having had some pretty good luck working on farms in the past in "Field of Dreams," we imagine Costner and Lane will make a perfect middle-aged couple.
If Snyder's film holds to the current comic's continuity, then both Ma and Pa remain alive into Clark Kent's adulthood, which will make them valuable sources of strength for Earth's greatest protector, especially if they let him take the car out past 11 p.m.
