Danny McBride Is One Seriously Degenerate 'Clown'

Whether he's a medieval knight ("Your Highness"), a pot dealer ("Pineapple Express"), or a bulletproof tiger/redneck baseball player ("Eastbound and Down"), Danny McBride has one mode: inappropriate.

And that's why we love him.

Thus, we are very pleased to tell you that McBride has no intention to go soft with his next project as actor-producer-writer, which Deadline says will be a remake of the Danish film and TV series "Klovn" (which means clown or fool) along with bro-centric producer Todd Phillips of "Project X" and "The Hangover"-infamy.

Somewhat modeled after Larry David's "Curb Your Enthusiasm," the series followed Frank Hvam and Casper Christensen as they got into various awkward/envelope-pushing situations. "Klovn: The Movie," of which McBride's screenplay will take its shape, involved the two buddies going on a canoeing trip with a girlfriend's 11-year-old kid without discarding their initial plan to have as much drunken sex as possible.

The Americanized version will slightly age-up the kid, making him 13, but somehow that seems like an invitation for even more craziness, not less. Regardless, this sounds like a pitch-perfect project for man who gave us pitcher Kenny F**kin' Powers, and let's just pray that the Warner Bros. movie doesn't skimp on the debauchery. Knowing McBride and Phillips' tendencies, that's highly unlikely.

So who will be his fellow party monster? Jason Sudeikis played opposite McBride in the most recent season of "Eastbound" to hilariously faux-macho effect, lapping Kenny Powers in the coke-snorting, womanizing, and hubris department until his character, well, died. Zach Galifianakis, Jonah Hill, and Seth Rogen would be obvious choices also, but who else could help make this the most up-the-creek canoe trip of all-time?

If you want to get down with the sickness of "Klovn" and see what's in store for the remake, check out the VERY NSFW trailer. Or check out the original "Klovn" (a.k.a. "Klown") when Drafthouse House film releases the film theatrically and on VOD July 27 (see the official site here).
