No, Daniel Craig is not starring in a remake of "Blade Runner," although you wouldn't know it from the newest official production still from James Bond No. 23, a.k.a. "Skyfall."
The noir-tinged, neon-lit photo shows 007 looking both shaken and stirred, or perhaps just being his usual determined self.
Bond's stubbly face comes courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter, who claim this is the "first official image" from the movie but clearly forgot about that near-naked pic from a few weeks ago of Craig in a swimming pool doing his best Greg Louganis impression (we, however, found that shot pretty unforgettable).
There was also this pic of the superspy in his traditional bow tie/tuxedo getup, looking a little more crisp and clean-shaven. It's possible that today's more grungy photo will come at the beginning of the film, with Bond looking beaten down after years of alcoholism and womanizing, but through a rigorous 12-step program gradually gets back in fighting shape as the story progresses.
Or perhaps not.
Whatever it's all about, director Sam Mendes knows he can have Daniel Craig eating hot dogs and crying in the backseat of a Honda and we'll still go see "Skyfall" no matter what. The movie, which co-stars Ralph Fiennes, Maggie Smith, Javier Bardem, Naomie Harris, Albert Finney, and Judi Dench will drop from the clouds on Nov. 9.
