This year's breakout star was, without a doubt, Chloe Moretz; thanks to her epic turn as pint sized killer Hit Girl in "Kick Ass," she immediately jumped to the top of any film fan's list of badass comic book vigilantes, behind only Jackie Earl Haley's Rorschach from "Watchmen." In fact, about the only way she could have been cooler is if Hit Girl had actually been Rorschach's protege. Now that would have just about created a black hole of awesome, right?
Well, your mind, it is about to be blown: according to The Hollywood Reporter, Haley and Moretz have both signed on to the upcoming black comedy "Dance of the Mirlitons" -- and Haley will indeed be taking Moretz under his wing as his apprentice.
His dark apprentice of dance, that is. Here's the grim tale behind "Dance of the Mirlitons:" Kristen Bell will co-star as a mom who sends her pudgy daughter (Bailee Madison) to train with a world famous Russian ballet instructor (that's Haley) who the report describes simply as "sadistic." Once inside the cutthroat world of children's ballet, though, Madison has more than just Haley to worry about -- she also has to deal with an evil archnemesis, played, of course, by Moretz.
Okay, so a pre-teen "Black Swan" crossed with "Heathers" might not seem like the most obvious vehicle for Mortez and Haley, but hey, everyone needs to stretch their legs sometimes, right? After all, Haley started off in "Bad News Bears," so who's to say this won't become another classic in the annals of kids' sports movies? Plus, we love us some Kristen Bell, so even though this isn't quite the "Watchmen" vs. "Kick-Ass" matchup we were hoping for, we're definitely on board.
"Dance of the Mirlitons" is scheduled to begin filming early next year.
