It's official: ghost-busting Blues Brother Dan Aykroyd is going back to his roots—because this funnyman has just become the third "Saturday Night Live" alum to join the cast of the political comedy "Dog Fight." (A comedy about politics? Surely we jest.)
'Tis true, good citizens. Aykroyd has teamed up with former 30 Rock employees Will Ferrell and Jason Sudeikis in this story of two rival South Carolina politicians with presidential aspirations who tangle with each other. Something tells us things get dirty.
Zach Galifianakis (not an "SNL" alum) also stars, and the rounded out cast list includes John Lithgow, Dylan McDermott, Brian Cox, Josh Lawson, Gary Grubbs and P.J. Byrne, Movie Hole reports.
Aykroyd has some legit experience channeling a Southerner, as he recently portrayed President Jimmy Carter in Funny or Die’s ‘Presidential Reunion’ Sketch, which was pretty awesome. Oh, and he owns the House of Blues restaurant chain. Which might be even… more awesome. He's also been busy trying to jumpstart "Ghostbusters 3," so we can only hope he manages to sign some new recruits for that sequel from this batch of co-stars.
"Dog Fight" is currently shooting down in New Orleans and is slated for release in August 2012—and, if everything plays out according to (our) plan, "Ghostbusters 3" will hit theaters soon after.
