We're not ashamed to say that we've been terrified of Chucky ever since his first appearance in 1988's "Child's Play". However, for those of you who get a kick out of watching homicidal dolls terrorize their unsuspecting human victims, you're in for a real treat.
The red band trailer for "Curse of Chucky" was released online today and is chock full of creepy laughs, gruesome murders and, of course, all things Chucky. The film is the sixth installment of the "Child's Play" franchise and was written and directed by Chucky creator Don Mancini.
This time 'round, we find Nica (Fiona Dourif) grieving over her mother's suicide when her older sister Barb (Danielle Bisutti) arrives in town with her family to sort out their mother's affairs. One day, a talking doll (Chucky, duh) mysteriously arrives in the mail, and becomes "friends" with Barb's young daughter. The household subsequently falls victim to a series of brutal murders… But what they don't know is that Chucky has a personal score to settle and is determined to finish a job he started more than twenty years ago. Dun-dun-dun…
"Curse of Chucky" marks a transition from the last two films in the franchise (which were more "horror-comedy") by returning to the bone-chilling terror that audiences first experienced in "Child's Play". One thing has not changed, however — Brad Dourif reprises his role as the voice of Chucky, which he has done in every film since 1988. (And yes, Fiona is his daughter.)
The direct-to-DVD movie is currently set for an Oct. 8 release, just in time for Halloween. Catch Chucky in all his creepily grinning, red-haired glory above.
