His stage name may be Common, but there's nothing common about the rapper-turned-movie-star's talent, which is why we're always excited to find out about his next movie. Will it be another family friendly animated hit (such as "Happy Feet Two")? Will it be a smooth romcom (like "Just Wright")? Will be be a sci-fi blockbuster (see: "Terminator: Salvation")?
Would you believe an action flick about ... magicians?
If you somehow guessed "magicians," go to the head of the class, because in a new interview with Movieline, Common revealed that he will be starring in the upcoming magician-centric action thriller "Now You See Me." Hey, nothing common about that.
"Now You See Me," which is described by indieWire as "a thriller in which magicians pull off heists during their shows and give the money to the audience" — yes, that's the actual description — is set to star the likes of Woody Harrelson and Morgan Freeman, among others. Just what role Common is going to play is still unclear (magician? rabbit? hat?) but one thing is clear: He's pretty stoked about it.
"I'm about to film this movie called 'Now You See Me,' which stars Jesse Eisenberg and Isla Fisher and Michael Caine and Mark Ruffalo," Common told Movieline. "I'd say it's an action movie, about these magicians. It's dope. I'm going down to film that soon."
Sounds ... interesting. But we know one thing: We'll be happy to follow Common on whatever cinematic journey he wants to take. because the one trick we don't want to see from him is the disappearing act.
