There were no fewer than four new releases this weekend at the box office, but it turned out there was no real competition at all for the top spot, as "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2" crushed the competition with a $35 million rake according to Film.com.
That was way more than any of the other new releases managed. Ron Howard's racing drama "Rush" debuted in third place with $10.3 million, while the romcom "Baggage Claim" came in fourth with $9.3 million. And Joseph Gordon-Levitt's directorial debut, "Don Jon," only brought in $9 million as well.
Next weekend should be a different story thanks to the team of Sandra Bullock and George Clooney and their new space epic "Gravity." Until then, though, you can check out this weekend's box office top ten over on Film.com.
