Following up a hard year in her personal life, Catherine Zeta-Jones is back to doing what she does best: looking hot and being awesome.
The actress, who has been absent from the big screen since Houdini romance (yes, you read that right) "Death Defying Acts" in 2007, is getting her movie groove back in a big way.
Deadline reports that Zeta-Jones has signed on to star as the unfaithful wife of New York City's mayor in noir drama "Broken City."
Russell Crowe and Mark Wahlberg are both attached to the film as Zeta-Jones' politician husband and the detective he hires to track down his wife's lover.
The movie, written by newcomer Brian Tucker, will be the first solo directorial effort of Allen Hughes, whose past credits have included "Menace II Society" and "From Hell," as one half of The Hughes Brothers directing team.
Don't worry about Zeta-Jones having too much time on her hands in the next few years – the actress has plenty on her plate between now and the movie's tentative 2014 release date. She's just finished shooting "Rock of Ages" opposite Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin and Russell Brand, and will appear in sports comedy "Playing the Field" and as improbably named Tulip Heimowitz in "Lay the Favorite," all scheduled for release in 2012.
