Bradley Cooper as Lance Armstrong Might Now Actually Be a Thing

If you're sensing the onset of a little headline déjà vu, don't worry. You totally have heard something along these lines before.

Earlier this yearBradley Cooper was rumored to be in contention for the lead in an upcoming Lance Armstrong biopic, but while he admitted to being totally intrigued by the story, he also dismissed any talk of being selected for the sure-to-be-iconic role as "nuts" (we're not sure if that pun was intentional or not).

Now, Deadline claims Cooper is in talks to star in another Armstrong-centric movie altogether as either Armstrong himself or Tyler Hamilton, the shamed cyclist's former teammate who blasted him out on national television for doping.

Yep, B. Coop might've gotten an email or two from J.J. Abrams about his in-the-works adaptation of Juliet Macur's book "Cycle of Lies: The Fall of Lance Armstrong" over at Paramount Pics. — the first Livestrong-esque part he was rumored for — but with Warner Bros.' new "Red Blood American" flick, he'll get his pick of roles plus the chance to work as a producer on the pic as well (which he apparently likes to do these days a la "Limitless," "The Words," "Silver Linings Playbook" and "American Hustle"). Ooh, ahhh!

This addition makes a groanworthy three cinematic contestants in Hollywood's race to the Lance Armstrong movie finish line, including the one with Ben Foster leading up Stephen Frears' effort for Working Title, which may go into production this fall.

Bradley Cooper first expressed his interest in portraying the hero-turned-pariah to BBC in January, saying "I would be interested in that ... I think he's fascinating. What a fascinating character."

Jay Roach ("Game Change") will reportedly direct, based on a script by Scott Z. Burns ("Contagion," "Side Effects"), and the movie is said to be on the Tour de France-style fast track, since Coop has a little break 'til next year.

We've reached out Cooper's reps for comment.
