As Justin Timberlake famously said in "The Social Network," you know what's cool? A billion dollars. Well, Marvel's "The Avengers" is apparently very cool because according to Hollywood.com the pop culture phenomenon has just crossed the billion dollar mark in just 19 days of release.
And that's just one of the many milestones achieved by "The Avengers" this weekend, as the unstoppable juggernaut shattered the record for the biggest second weekend in movie history, earning an estimated $103.2 million. The previous mark was held by "Avatar" with $75.6 million.
The success of "The Avengers," though, meant disappointment for Johnny Depp's "Dark Shadows," which debuted to a soft $28 million. For a full report on the weekend box office and the ongoing dominance of "The Avengers" ($373.2 million domestically and counting) check out Hollywood.com.
