Say 'Beetlejuice' Three Times Fast and a Sequel May Appear

According to legend, if you say the name Beetlejuice three times fast, the magical trickster himself will appear before you. Frankly, we thought it was bunk, but the team of David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith are believers -- and guess what just happened?

Get ready to shout "Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice!" because according to Deadline, KatzSmith Productions has just signed a deal with Warner Bros. that may include the long-awaited sequel to the Tim Burton's hit comedy "Beetlejuice."

Quick primer for those of you who don't know Emily the Strange from Amy Lee: An instant smash when it hit theaters back in 1988, "Beetlejuice" stars Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin as a dead couple who enlist the help of Michael Keaton's Beetlejuice in order to evict the new family that has moved into their house. When he takes a shine to goth teen Winona Ryder, though, things go from crazy to totally bats**t in about three seconds flat.

The film has long been a fan favorite, but until now the studio has been hesitant to hand over the reins of the franchise to anyone other than Burton. Katzenberg and Grahame-Smith, however, just finished working with Burton himself on the upcoming Johnny Depp vampire movie "Dark Shadows" and apparently impressed everybody involved enough to give them a crack at the title.

This won't be a remake, though, but rather a sequel that picks up somewhere after the original left off. So don't worry, your childhood is safe, at least as safe as it can be from the guys who brought the world "The Hard Times of RJ Berger" and "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies." And fans have been hoping for years that we might eventually see Beetlejuice on the big screen again.

But hey, who knows? After all, if there's one thing all "Beetlejuice" fans know better than anybody it's that you need to be careful what you wish for.
