Since officially announcing via Twitter last month that he return to the world of acting, fans of Arnold Schwarzenegger have been waiting patiently for word on the legendary muscle man's next role. If Arnie himself is to be believed, it could be one we're already familiar with...
While attending The Arnold Sports Festival (easily the most terrifying fitness convention hosted by Arnold Schwarzenegger in existence), TheArnoldFans.com (via CinemaBlend) questioned the bodybuilder/governor/action star on what scripts he really had in the works, and what may actually see the light of day.
According to Schwarzenegger, the original rumor of three potential projects is a lowball estimate. Schwarzenegger said, "Well, first of all it's more 15 films, obvious ones from "The Terminator" to remakes of "Predator" and "The Running Man" and all of those things."
Whoa -- 15!? Hollywood must be eager to get back in the Arnie business. While it was nice to see Arnold pop up in last year's "The Expendables," it would seem an almost fruitless task trying to revive his past franchises with new installments on par with the original. Then again, how hard can it be to write an explanation for why the T-800 has aged 30 years?
Schwarzenegger went on to say that franchises aren't the only thing simmering in his pan: "Then also a lot of original stuff too. But I am also packaging a comic book character right now. I'm going to announce that sometime by the end of March or the beginning of April."
There aren't too many comic book characters left for Arnold to play, and even then, this isn't the "Batman & Robin" goofball era -- is he playing a masked hero or something a bit more off-beat? Murmurs from the sidelines point to Joel Silver's long-gesting, futuristic "Sgt. Rock" film, but until March/April, it's anyones guess.
The only concrete info: Schwarzengger will return, and from the sound of it, in a very, very big way.
