Two New 'Anchorman 2' Sequel Secrets Revealed

Anchorman DreamWorks

Things have been pretty hush hush lately in the "Anchorman: The Legend Continues" department, but today not one but two major news bits about the long-awaited sequel have come down.

While the first installment saw anchor Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell), weatherman Brick (Steve Carell), Champ (David Koechner), Brian (Paul Rudd) and Veronica (Christina Applegate) holdin' it down in sunny San Diego, Channel Four's pack of weirdos just wouldn't be news folk worth a darn if New York City wasn't their Mecca. So, writer Adam McKay is sending them to the east coast this go-round for some Big Apple-style funzies.

"San Diego is too close to Ron's heart to go away, but we feel that New York City is the holy grail for all newsmen," he told Empire Online. Oh, the places they will go!

McKay also confirmed that Kristen Wiig has indeed joined the cast to star as Brick's love interest ... whatever that means. "Brick's so far gone that you can't have a relationship with him. It takes a special someone to get a rope snare around his heart," he said. "She is dangerous!"

Kristen Wiig as some sort of femme fatale? Yes, please!

Meanwhile, filming is currently underway in Atlanta, Georgia, and thanks to some local casting call spies another huge casting addition was snooped out as well in the form of Ferrell's former "Step Brother" John C. Reilly.

Bleeding Cool got its mitts on a copy of a casting call searching for a Reilly look-alike ... cause, you know, there are so many of them and all. It read, "Do you look like John C. Reilly? We're seeking a caucasian male, 6'2", any age. THIS SHOOTS TOMORROW, FEB 28th. Please submit your stats and 3 photos to TeachMan2ATL@gmail.com with the subject line JOHNNY DOUBLE."

It's hard to be skeptical at all about that one. It's almost comically blatant.

"Anchorman 2" is scheduled to hit theaters on December 20th, a mere eight and a half years after "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy" originally came down. James Marsden will also star as a rival anchor (probably one of 'em city boys).
