Sony Pictures
While Sony seems determined to show us just about every cool shot from "The Amazing Spider-Man" before it lands on July 3, between the new Lizard-rific preview, those viral videos of Dr. Curt Connors and that 4-minute super-trailer, they apparently haven't convinced a large enough swath of the population that this is a different animal from Sam Raimi's trilogy.
Therefore, Collider reports the studio is pulling the same tactic Warner Bros. did for "The Dark Knight Rises" by releasing a six-minute hunk of this brand-new "Spider-Man" before all IMAX 3-D screenings of their own "Men In Black 3" this weekend.
Will this give their Will Smith threequel the same boost "Dark Knight" gave "Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol" last Christmas? Let's hope so, especially with the picture our MovieTracker is painting of the "MIB" buzz going into Memorial Day Weekend.
Given that, we can assure fans that the new "Men In Black" is not nearly as dreadful as the second one, and the chemistry between Josh Brolin and Smith makes this an amiable, fun way burn through the holiday. Add on the web-slinger incentive and you're golden, especially since this new take on Peter Parker is looking grittier and more intriguing than anything Tobey Maguire dished out.
