Zooey Deschanel has been keeping herself both busy and in the spotlight recently thanks to her hit TV sitcom "New Girl," but fans of the "(500) Days of Summer" actress have been waiting a while for her to headline a new movie. Sure, she appeared in "Our Idiot Brother" and "Your Highness" last year, but those were ensembles. When would she get a chance to really shine on the big screen again?
Well, now we know the answer, as Variety is reporting that Deschanel is considering a lead role in a new film and all we can say is that it's "About Time." Literally.
Here's the scoop: Set to be directed by "Love Actually's" Richard Curtis from a script he wrote, "About Time" tells the story of a guy who learns he's from a family of time travelers and naturally decides to use this ability to change history, for the better of course. And along the way, of course, he falls in love with Deschanel, which, join the club, dude.
Of course, Deschanel hasn't yet signed on, but if she does, "About Time" will likely be a must see for most movie buffs, because Curtis is also in discussions with "Harry Potter's" Domhnall Gleeson to play the time traveler. And considering how cool Gleeson was portraying the romance between Bill Weasley and Fleur Delacour, the possibility of him matching up with Deschanel is a film geek's dream.
Here's hoping things come together. Because Gleeson and Deschanel may have all the time in the world, but for fans, the clock is most definitely ticking.
